"The Shattered Rose is a tale of loss and forgiveness, passion and enduring love." --Mary Jo Putney

Jehanne has never stopped loving her husband, Galeran of Heywood. And now he's returned from war--leaner, tougher, callused in body and soul, longing for his wife and the child he has never seen. In other circumstances, it would be all Jehanne could ever hope for, but time and fate have wrought changes that neither of them could have expected when they kissed goodbye three years ago.

For Galeran has a rival, Raymond of Lowick, an ambitious nobleman who wants everything Galeran had--his lands, his castle, and his wife.  He'll use any means and any deceit to gain control over Jehanne. But Galeran is not a man to give up, no matter what powerful allies Raymond may have. As the glittering court assembles, two men will vie for the same woman, and a battle-weary warrior will mount one last campaign for Jehanne's safety, and her heart…

Arguably today's most skillful writer of intelligent historical romance... Publisher's Weekly, March 9th 1998

Jo Beverley is the author of eighteen published romances, both Regency and historical. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Golden Leaf, the Award of Excellence, the National Readers Choice, and a two Career Achievement awards from Romantic Times. She is also a four time winner of the RITA, the top award of the Romance Writers Of America, and a member of their Hall of Fame.

Born and raised in England, Jo moved to Canada in the mid-seventies with her scientist husband. She now lives in Victoria with her husband and two teenaged sons.

Jo began writing stories almost as soon as she could string sentences together, and still has a medieval historical romance written in a school text book when she was a teenager. It was only in the mid eighties, however, that things came together for her to apply herself seriously to writing, and she completed a regency romance in 1985. It was promptly rejected by a number of publishers, and she settled more earnestly to learning the craft. In 1988, it sold to Walker, and was published as LORD WRAYBOURNE'S BETROTHED.

This was followed by three other traditional regencies, then two longer regencies — the beginning of her famous Company Of Rogues series—and then she returned to her first love, medieval historical. However, an interested publisher would only buy her first medieval if she wrote a Regency historical for them as well, Regency historicals being all the rage. As she wrote the book, Jo decided she really wanted to write a Georgian, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and thus began her successful Malloren series, presided over by the head of the Malloren family, the enigmatic Marquis of Rothgar. Jo gets so many letters from readers demanding Rothgar's story, that she has buttons saying "Waiting For Rothgar."
