Our To-Be-Read Shelves often encompass more than just one, especially with the availability of ebooks. We can pack our e-readers full of delicious treats but there’s so many good books, sometimes, some really great reads we’ve wanted to get lost in can get lost themselves. Check out some of these older titles you may already have on your shelf and are just waiting for the chance to take you on the ride of your life.

The Orphan Collector by Ellen Marie Wiseman

A gritty, yet hopeful story set against the backdrop of the Spanish Flu Epidemic and one young girl’s fight over the years to protect herself and her family. Facing impossible odds, the heroine must find reserves of strength she didn’t know she had, and choose to hope through the darkest nights.

Who doesn’t want cookie recipes with a cup of murder? This delightful read is the first in Fluke’s Hannah Swenson mystery series and introduces us to the dynamic baker-turned-sleuth. Witty and fun, it’s the perfect first bite that will have you reaching for another.

How To Love Your Elf by Kerrelyn Sparks

Brilliant world-building, passionate, well-crafted characters and a playful sense of adventure that captures everything tasty about the fantasy genre while mixing liberally with feel-good romance.

The Essence of Perfection by Nita Brooks

A list of regrets and a social media blast challenge this heroine to go after everything she’s ever wanted. However, her darkest secret is one that can destroy her if she doesn’t find the courage to make it right. Sometimes, the obstacles to success aren’t what we think and the final boss battle isn’t outside of ourselves, but within.

Law and Disorder by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker

True crime at its best. Author John Douglas was the inspiration for Netflix’s Mindhunter and the character for Jack Crawford in Silence of the Lambs. This book is a dark, twisty, but very human glimpse into a world most of us can only imagine.

The Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne

23723798

A dark, tortured and broody highwayman with a scarred body and heart paired with a brave heroine who will fight for what she believes in. She’s both the maiden and the dragon, and in the end, they save each other. This book will break your heart and stitch it back together again.
