Kensington is seeking an Associate Manager of Digital Content who is extremely efficient, detail oriented, and interested in the importance of how metadata and file formatting impact book sales. We are looking for someone who is interested in and has a background in eBook metadata, ePub / Print on Demand file formatting, and strong communication skills. Our specialist will be involved in the following:

File formatting for ePubs and PODs

  • Formatting from Word docs to final products
  • Updating existing files with new teasers and links as needed
  • Making corrections to files as required
Assuring timely eBook production

  • Compiling files and metadata and delivering to our outside eBook production partner
  • Resolving day-to-day issues impacting timely completion of digitization and delivery
  • Monitoring open items on production and delivery issues list and resolving or escalating
  • Entering, updating, and maintaining metadata in the appropriate databases
  • Building and updating spreadsheets of titles for monthly digital promotions, both cross-retailer and retailer-specific—including suggesting titles around various themes
  • Requesting and managing exclusive content for retailer promotions
  • Creating and distributing various internal reports to track results of sales and promotions
  • Monitoring retailer sites to ensure that titles are on sale and displayed with the correct metadata
  • Watching for trends and suggesting metadata updates (i.e. BISAC and pricing) when necessary, as well as executing approved changes
  • Communicating with various internal departments and external contacts as well as authors and agents to gather information and ensure that required items are executed
  • Working with our distribution clients to ensure their titles and metadata are converted and delivered to market in the required timeframe
  • Reviewing and approving invoices
  • Running catalog comparisons at retailers to ensure that all titles are available at all major retailers. Queuing files, metadata, and covers for redelivery to retailers as necessary
  • Additional digital content and sales projects as needed


  • 4+ years of experience in publishing operations
  • Excellent attention to detail and experience communicating with high-level business partners
  • Excellent computer skills, including Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office—specifically InDesign and Excel
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • BA or equivalent work experience
  • Strong interest in commercial publishing and knowledge of what is currently working in the marketplace
  • Must be a team-player who can work well with others
  • A love of books/eBooks—particularly romance, mysteries and thrillers, and women’s fiction
