Karen Kelley lives in a small town in Texas with her husband of thirty-four years, a spoiled Pekinese of five months, numerous wild birds that eat too much seed and six Koi fish. She has two grown children, a son-in-law and three wonderful grandchildren.

She worked ten years for an advanced life support ambulance service and felt the same rush of adrenaline her characters feel when faced with life or death situations. She's been caught in a flash flood while transporting two accident victims from the scene of a wreck. Stood by at hostage situations. She's gotten ambulance calls when a tornado was spotted in the area. Gone to shootings and stabbings---always with the knowledge that the perpetrator could still be close by.

She's given up that part of her life but continues to work part-time at the local hospital as a licensed nurse. When she's not treating patients she loves writing contemporary romances with strong female characters, sexy heroes and exciting plots. Writing is a solitary business but one she couldn't stop doing anymore than she could stop breathing. As long as there are stories to tell she doubts she ever will.
