Staff Pick & Review by Norma P.

I first heard Priscilla Oliveras’s name at Kensington when her soon-to-be editor presented her series of romances at one of our editorial meetings. I was beyond excited. Not only would her contemporary romances follow a Puerto Rican trio of sisters in the Chicago area, but the author of them also shared their (and my) Puerto Rican heritage.

I devoured her first novel, HIS PERFECT PARTNER, while it was still in manuscript form. I did the same for its sequel, HER PERFECT AFFAIR, snagging an ARC and immersing myself in the Fernandez family once more.

HER PERFECT AFFAIR follows Rosa, the super-organized, responsible middle sister who decides to have some fun for herself for a change… and finds love in the process. I saw a lot of myself in Rosa—I too am the middle child of three siblings, and often find myself being the head and heart of my own personality-filled Latin family. Also like, Rosa, I find my solace in words, and can forget to put my needs first while taking care of those who I love. Finding a mirror in Rosa was a validating and wonderful experience, especially when considering that only 6.2 percent of romance novels published in 2017 were authored by people of color. I hope that with incredible romances like HER PERFECT AFFAIR, that number will increase in 2018.

“Warm, sweet and spicy in just the right amounts. . . . A delicious read!” --Kristan Higgins, New York Times bestselling author

Three very different Latina sisters. Three dazzling talents with ambition—and passion—to burn. And in this warm-hearted, sexy new series, three chances to figure out if the path to success can also lead to lasting love . . .

Ad executive Tomás Garcia shouldn't even be thinking about his daughter’s alluring dance teacher, Yazmine Fernandez. Burned by a shattering divorce, he's laser-focused on his career—and giving his young daughter, Maria, the secure home she deserves. Plus, he's certain that with her talent, Yaz will be leaving Chicago and heading back to Broadway as soon as she can. But Yaz's generous spirit and caring concern are sparking a desire Tomás can't resist—and doesn't want to let go . . .

For Yaz, good-looking workaholics like Tomás simply can't be part of her life ever again. She owes it to herself to get back her confidence and fulfill the dreams her papá could not. She's glad to spend time with Maria—and taste the family life she feels she can never have. And she’s sure that she and Tomás can keep their attraction under control because there's so much at stake. But each unexpected intimacy, each self-revelation, makes the fire between them grow hotter with every step—and every risk to their hearts . . .
