Two Ride Together…

From his Missouri farm, the boy travels west. In his heart is vengeance. In his hand is a Navy Colt. By his side is the old mountain man named Preacher, who’ll teach young Smoke Jensen everything he needs to know about fighting like the devil, and—when the time comes—dying like a man.

Now One Stands Alone.

Although his enemies have destroyed everything he’s ever loved, they made one mistake. They let smoke Jensen Live.

The Last Mountain Man

About William W. Johnstone:

Just to give you a brief rundown on who William W. Johnstone is, here are the basic facts. He was born in Southern Missouri, the youngest of four kids. His father was a minister and his mother was a schoolteacher.

He quit school when he was fifteen and joined a carnival after getting kicked out of the FFL (for being underage), but he went back and finished high school in 1957. After that he worked as a deputy sheriff, did a hitch in the army, came back and went into radio broadcasting, where he worked for sixteen years.

Johnstone started writing in 1970, but he didn't get published until late 1979. He has written almost a hundred books including the best-selling Ashes series and the Mountain Man series. He began writing full-time in the early 1980s and hasn't stopped since. His first published book was THE DEVIL'S KISS and his favorite, so far, is THE LAST OF THE DOG TEAM.

the last mountain man (Saturday, January 5, 2008)
Reviewer: Doyle Hughes

I loved the book. I have read many westerns and truly love the the ongoing story lines. The way each book stands alone yet is also independent. Preacher and smoke jenson are two people anyone would love to get to know and their views on life could be carried over into todays world. I just can't wait to read the next one. I strongly advise it for any fan of western books...

The Mountain Man Series (Friday, February 23, 2007)
Reviewer: Christi Lisch

I love these books. I have read almost the entire series. My favorite is Return of the Mountain Man. I believe Mr. Johnstone has done a great job on writing the first book and all of the follow- ups. He has maintained the character's personallity in each and every book. I love reading of the old west. I'm glad to see Mr. Johnstone continuing his writings on these fictional hereos. I hope he keeps writing them. They are very entertaining and captivating. I love Sally Jenson, who is just as strong as her husband. I also have read books from the Blood Bond, The Last Gunfighter, and Eagles series. They all are great, and I hope to see them continued. Thank you William W. Johnstone.

Another well done western (Wednesday, June 28, 2006)
Reviewer: David Decker

I have read a variety of western Authors including Louis L'Amour, Ralph Compton, Ralph Cotton and of course William Johnstone and this book is a very good beginning to a wonderful series of Western Books about Smoke Jensen. I enjoy his character and the familiarity of all the characters throughout this series and this book is a must have for the series because, of course, it is the first one and vital to the collection that I hope to someday complete in total myself.
